With the imminent arrival of iPhone 8 or iPhone pro is around the corner what’s in for watchOS 4 and Apple Watch series 3.Apple watch 3 is in dire need for an upgrade following the minor upgrade it received such as SwimProofing ,GPS connection and a brighter display.
Apple watch Series 3 or whatever it may be called is said to support LTE connection according to Ming Chi Kuo,the super accurate Apple Analyst who obtains information about iPhone and Apple products from various supply chain sources.
Currently Apple is 3rd largest smart wearables vendor in the world following Xiaomi and Fibit.
Although LTE is available,it may just support VOIP calls like Skype,Facetime Audio and others.Adding LTE to watch will reduce dependence on data from iPhone and improve tracking. It can also be used in various scenarios such as Indoor mapping where you can walk into a mall and expect turn by turn directions on your wrist.
According to supply chain details obtained by DigiTimes the sales of the watch will rise to 15 M units per year citing increased consumer demand for the LTE models. However unlike in US,LTE connections are not available throughout the world which would Apple Watch series 3 less appealing to customers.Due to lack of space Apple will be using its eSIM which gives the users flexibility to choose carrier and data plans accordingly. This eSIM still needs lots of negotiations as not all carriers support it.iPhone 8 is coming out in september just in time for holidays and Apple Watch is said launch alongside iPhone 8.
