OnePlus 6 is a great phone and one of the best smartphones of 2018. However, there are some features still missing in OnePlus 6.
No Wireless charging
OnePlus 6 doesn’t support wireless charging. It’s 2018 and even iPhones have wireless charging now. Samsung galaxy s9 and s9 plus also support wireless charging.
While some say wireless charging doesn’t make a difference, it is a convenience feature. You can charge up your device in malls, airports and Starbucks as well.
The company claims that fast charging is a better wireless charging alternative. However, they can’t hide the fact that it is one of missing features in OnePlus 6.
No Water Resistance
OnePlus 6 doesn’t have an IP rating which means the phone may be prone to water damage. But the company claims it is splash resistant.
Remeber that have IP 67 rating have weird water damage charges that aren’t covered under the warranty. So just think of the water damage charges of OnePlus 6.
All the top smartphones such as Galaxy s9, iPhone X have an IP rating. It is a bummer that this feature is missing in OnePlus 6.
Hope they add it in the next iteration.
The absence of Ultra High-Resolution Screen
With phones like Galaxy s9 and S9 plus having Quad HD screens, we really wished we had it on the OnePlus 6 too. Samsung screens look beautiful and they have high contrast, colours just pop out.
However, OnePlus 6 just has an HD screen that has a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. Ultra HD screens(4K screens) are particularly important in today’s context as Services like Youtube, Amazon Prime Video and Netflix are developing 4K rich content.
Lack of Stereo Speakers
OnePlus has a single set of bottom firing speakers and support Dirac Sound format. Although the speaker is pretty loud, it’s not even close to stereo speakers found on iPhone 8 Plus or Galaxy S9 that comes with Dolby surround sound.
No 3D sensing Tech
Make no mistake, the notch on the OnePlus 6 doesn’t do anything different. Its design is hugely inspired by iPhone X. However the notch lets the phone have more screen to body ratio.
In case you’re wondering about 3D sensing read our iPhone X review.
iPhone X’s front-facing module has 3D sensing Tech that can visualise your facial geometry, read your emotions and does fancy AR stuff. Not just on OnePlus, but almost every Android phone that has the notch does nothing great.
The Screen is not pressure-sensitive
Even Samsung’s S9 and S9 Plus have pressure sensors. However, OnePlus cleverly outsmarts others with its intuitive gestures.
Pressure sensitive screens can distinguish between a tap and force applied. All the latest Apple products such as iPhone X, 8/8 Plus and even Macbooks have pressure sensing tech.

Bonus: There’s no on-screen fingerprint sensor. The only phone to have it now is Vivo X20 Plus UD. However this technology far from going mainstream.
